“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important.”

Teaching Philosophy

A few years ago, I remember setting up my new betta fish’ environment. My niece, Sophia, was just 3 years old around this time. She was so intrigued by the fish and how it was possible that it could breathe in the water. I remember sitting down with her and explaining how fish have gills that they can breathe from and then teaching her how to feed our new pet fish. I loved how interested she was in the concept of fish living in water and how amazing she found the fish to be. After the mini lesson on our new pet, Sophia went to everyone in the house and explained how fish could breathe and survive in water. As her teacher, I felt so proud to have made such a large impact on this little human being. As she grew, she grew to look up to me as her role model, copying everything I did from dancing like me to copying my jokes to pretending to do her makeup in the mirror. This child valued me so greatly and looked up to me so dearly that it made me want to be a better person so I could be the perfect role model for her. I continuously make a difference in Sophia’s life on a daily basis. My opinion matters so much to her because she looks up to me and respects me. Growing up with my niece helped me realize my passion to make positive impacts in the lives of younger individuals and fulfill the role as their role model.

Education is so valuable in my opinion because it is limitless. One can never stop learning. This excites me because I know that all individuals are capable of learning, as long as they are engaged in the material. As an educator, it is my duty to motivate my students to have a desire to learn. I will achieve my goal by providing my students with unique and diverse lessons and tools to help them master the material. I want to support all students with various learning styles which is why I value the idea of differentiation. It is my goal to provide my students with various resources to help them understand difficult concepts.

Biology is particularly important to me because I find the human body to be intriguing. I have a passion for understanding the world inside of our bodies and I would love to share my knowledge on what I love learning about the most with others. With the proper guidance, I am confident that my students will love this content area as much as I do.
